IT Bites > Projects > Willis Global Payroll Project Background An 8.3 implementation that is due to go live in the Spring of 2004. The project, based in Ipswich, was supported by an excellent technical implementation team based in the US. The Project Sponsor recognised at an early stage that having staff trained and ready would be a key factor to the successful transition of a major business process that the Global Payroll project represented. By creating the necessary transactional documentation to support the training, he also recognised that the payroll team would work not only in a consistent manner on a day to day basis, but would be able to deal with more infrequent transactions effectively. The early involvement of IT Bites also allowed documentation to be created in time for User Acceptance Testing project phases, providing valuable input to test scripting. Since the original engagement, IT Bites have returned to the project a number of times to provide additional training and support as required. Deliverables
Delivery Incidentally, this script in itself allowed a number of issues to be identified earlier than would have otherwise happened. For instance, some bugs were reported to the technical team; in other cases, the design of the system did not quite meet user expectations and these were able to be addressed much sooner. Once TaGs had been completed, they formed the basis of a classroom training course developed by IT Bites. The benefit here was that instead of delivering a standard course that could be provided to any organisation, the course related to the way that Willis actually works, and was far more relevant to the attendees. On a subsequent follow-up, IT Bites was able to quickly modify the payroll course into one that was relevant to HR Administrators and this allowed them to understand the impact that their actions can make on the way Payroll calculates, ensuring that the HR Team also worked consistently. |
